Overview
Austin’s Resilience Hub Toolkit was designed to assist communities in establishing community-operated Resilience Hubs in collaboration with City of Austin-owned and operated Resilience Hub demonstration sites. Each Hub is tailored to the specific needs of its community, offering various services such as information, accessible facilities, and emergency assistance. The toolkit serves as a foundational resource for community stakeholders interested in establishing Resilience Hubs.
My Role
As the Graphic Designer for the City of Austin's Office of Resilience, I spearheaded the design of Austin's Resilience Hub Toolkit. I contributed to developing an intuitive and visually compelling toolkit that outlines the steps and requirements for creating a resilience hub.
Following the City of Austin’s brand guidelines at the time, I created an accessible, visual tool that aligned with other City materials and shared vital information with residents of Austin. While staying within City branding rules, I was still given a bit of flexibility to experiment with different styles of the booklet. I used City-provided photos of local spots in Austin that were relevant to the content and ensured that these were notable spots to the people who would be reading them. Additionally, we planned to share this booklet with a large Austin audience, meaning there would be many people of different demographics referring to it. Because of this, we had to ensure that the toolkit was visually accessible in color, text, and scaling.
Once completed, the booklet was distributed among the Austin community and small businesses and is still in use today.
